Lead Assessment Program

McKinney Water District is asking property owners to check their drinking water pipes as part of a nationwide effort to locate and remove lead service pipes from all water systems. We have completed our service line inventory to comply with the E.P.A Lead and Copper Rule Revisions.

Your drinking water is free of lead when it leaves the District's water tank.  However, water can absorb lead if it travels through lead pipes on your property.  The District maintains a portion of the service line, and each homeowner is responsible for the other portion that goes into your homes' structure.

Property owners living in homes built before 1986 should complete the Lead Assessment Survey. Click the link above.

Residents living in homes built after 1986 do not need to complete the survey.  The EPA banned the use of lead materials to distribute drinking water in 1986.
